Using Joule Chat

Joule is the in-page assistant that helps you make sense of tutorials and figure out what to learn next.

What it is

A small floating chat button appears on every tutorial page. Click it to open a conversation with Joule, an AI assistant scoped to the SAP tutorial corpus. You can also reach Joule from the global header on any non-tutorial page — same assistant, same history if you're signed in.

The chat opens as a side panel so you can keep reading the tutorial while you ask questions.

What it's good at

Joule is most useful for three things:

• Explaining a step in your own words. If a step's instructions or output don't quite click, ask Joule to walk through what's happening and why. On tutorial pages, Joule already knows which tutorial and step you're on, so you don't need to paste anything in.
• Suggesting what to learn next. Ask "what should I do next?" and Joule looks at what you've completed to recommend tutorials and missions that build on your history.
• Telling you where you are. Ask "what step am I on?" or "what's next?" and Joule answers from the page context — handy when you've stepped away and come back.

What it isn't

Joule is not a generic chatbot. It only knows the SAP tutorial corpus and a small set of related SAP documentation. If you ask something off-topic — your travel plans, a generic coding puzzle, current news — it will tell you it can't help and steer you back to learning topics.

Don't paste private data, customer data, or credentials into the chat. Treat it like any other assisted tool.

Privacy

Your chat history is yours. It's not shared with other users.

• Anonymous users get a session-scoped history that lives in your browser for the current visit.
• Signed-in users get history saved to your account so you can pick up later from another device.

You can clear your chat history any time from the menu inside the chat panel.
